Day 1:Arrival in Errachidia → Ziz Valley → Merzouga

Your  3 Days Merzouga Desert Tour from Errachidia  begins the moment you land in Errachidia. Whether you arrive via the domestic night flight from Casablanca or the daytime flights from Marrakech, your driver will welcome you and set off toward the Sahara. As we leave the city behind, the scenery shifts into long stretches of palm groves and ancient ksours lining the Ziz Valley.

A stop at one of the panoramic viewpoints gives you time to appreciate the immensity of the valley an oasis ribbon cutting through the desert plateau. The drive continues south toward Erfoud, a town known for its fossil industry and desert gateways, before the golden dunes of Merzouga appear on the horizon.

Upon arrival, settle into your accommodation and enjoy a calm evening at the edge of the Sahara. Overnight in Merzouga.

Day 2:Merzouga → Khamlia → Merzouga Lake → Camel Trek → Desert Camp

After a relaxed breakfast, the entire day is dedicated to discovering the landscapes and traditions that make Merzouga so unique. Your adventure begins with an off-road drive into the mineral-rich desert to explore an old kohl mine once an important source of eyeliner pigment for ancient trade routes.

From here, the route continues toward the nomadic communities that live in this remote region. Over a cup of Berber tea, learn about their daily life, traditions, and the challenges of living between Morocco and the Algerian frontier.

The next stop is Khamlia, a village known for its Gnaoua musicians whose ancestors came from Sudan, Mali, and Niger. Enjoy their soulful rhythms, then break for lunch in a local café. In the afternoon, wander through a serene palm grove before heading to Merzouga’s seasonal lake often home to flamingos and other migratory birds when water levels are right.

As the sun begins to drop, switch to camels and ride into Erg Chebbi’s dunes. Pause on a high ridge to watch the desert glow with warm shades of gold and red. Continue to your luxury camp, where an evening of Berber drumming, a traditional dinner, and a sky full of stars awaits. Overnight in a luxury tent.

Day 3:Merzouga → Rissani → Erfoud → Ziz Valley → Errachidia

Wake early if you wish to witness the sunrise one of the most memorable moments of the entire trip. After breakfast, travel back to Merzouga by camel or 4×4, then begin the journey north.

Depending on your flight time, you may visit Rissani, once the capital of the Tafilalet region and home to one of the area’s most vibrant souks (open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays). Continue to Erfoud, where you can stop at a fossil workshop to see how prehistoric stones are carved into decorative pieces.

The road then climbs toward Errachidia, passing through rocky plateaus and stopping for final views over the Ziz Valley. Arrival at Errachidia Airport is scheduled for early morning or midday drop-offs, depending on your outbound flight.
