Itinerary

Day 1:Agadir – Taroudant – Taliouine – Ouarzazate

Your 3 Days Desert Tour From Agadir To Merzouga begins with a morning pickup from your Agadir hotel. The first stop is Taroudant, a charming town often called the “Grandmother of Marrakech” for its resemblance to the historic city. Here, explore the ancient city walls, lively souks, and local crafts. Taroudant is particularly renowned for its jewelry, carpets, and a small traditional tannery producing leather goods like bags, sandals, and belts. A short stroll through the medina gives a glimpse of daily life in this historic town.

Next, journey to Taliouine, the heart of Morocco’s saffron production. Visit a local cooperative to see the delicate saffron harvesting process and have the opportunity to purchase authentic saffron directly from producers. The landscape here is dotted with terraced fields and low mountain ranges, offering stunning photographic opportunities.

From Taliouine, the route continues to Taznakht, famous for its handwoven carpets and rugs. Explore the workshops where artisans use traditional methods, natural dyes, and high-quality wool to craft designs that reflect Amazigh heritage. Each piece tells a story, combining earthy tones with intricate patterns that suit both floors and walls.

The day concludes with a visit to the iconic Kasbah Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most impressive kasbahs along Morocco’s historic caravan routes. Wander its mud-brick alleys and imagine the countless films shot here, from Gladiator to The Mummy. Finally, reach Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa,” where you’ll check into your riad or hotel. Evening dinner and overnight are included.

Day 2:Ouarzazate – Dades Valley – Tinghir – Merzouga

After an early breakfast, travel through the Dades Valley, a dramatic landscape of red rock formations, palm groves, and traditional Berber villages. Stop for photographs and enjoy the quiet beauty of this region. Continue toward Todra Gorge, an awe-inspiring canyon with towering red cliffs carved by the river over millennia. Stroll along the gorge, take in the views of the surrounding Berber villages, or try a short hike if you wish.

Afterward, enjoy lunch in a local restaurant overlooking the gorge before continuing through Erfoud, known for its rich fossil deposits and desert landscapes. This area has also served as a location for many films, including March or Die, Prince of Persia, and The Mummy.

By mid-afternoon, arrive in the Merzouga Desert, where camels await for a magical trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. Pause atop a dune to watch the sunset over the vast desert, painting the landscape in breathtaking hues of orange and gold. Conclude the day at a luxury desert camp, enjoying dinner under the starry sky and traditional Berber music around the campfire. Overnight in a private desert tent.

Day 3:Merzouga Desert – Rissani – Agdz – Taliouine – Agadir

Begin the day early with a panoramic sunrise over the Sahara, one of Morocco’s most unforgettable sights. After breakfast at the camp, choose to return to Merzouga either by camel or 4×4 vehicle.

The journey then passes through Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalet and once a major caravan hub for gold and salt trade. Explore the lively souk, where local life thrives among spices, dates, and handmade crafts. From Rissani, drive along the Draa Valley, stopping in Alnif for coffee and quick refreshment before reaching N’Qob for lunch. The valley is dotted with palm groves, kasbahs, and traditional villages, offering countless photo opportunities.

Continue through Agdz, a calm town framed by desert landscapes, before passing through Taznakht and Taliouine, retracing the route of your journey south. Witness the transformation from desert and mountains to the lush valleys and plains of the Sous region. Arrive back in Agadir after sunset, marking the end of your 3 Days Desert Tour From Agadir To Merzouga with memories of expansive dunes, Berber hospitality, and Morocco’s timeless landscapes.
